What does living with intention mean to you?
To some it may mean that there’s a reason behind everything we do. To others, it may feel like having a sense of purpose. Maybe it looks like setting goals and taking the action steps to accomplish that goal.
That’s all living intentionally, yes. But to me, living with intention ties back to the law of attraction, the indisputable law that states “our thoughts turn into things.”
When I say that I live intentionally, it means that I get up every morning with the opportunity to create the momentum I want for the day and to set my vibration high, so that I will align with people, places and things throughout my day that are a match to my vibration.
Because I care about who and what shows up in my life. And I care about how I feel.
Let me simplify.
I can control my thoughts, therefore, I can control what presents itself in my life.
Let me guess, you don’t quite believe me? I understand. The concept that “my thoughts turn into things” took a while for me to get my arms around, but after religiously following the teachings of people like Abraham Hicks, Shelly Bullard, and Neville Goddard, and a deep dive into The Secret, buy Rhonda Byrne, I started to love the concept and found it to be quite powerful. In fact, I had been activating this in my life for quite some time and didn’t even know it.
I mean, who wouldn’t love knowing they could deliberately create their desired reality simply by thinking about it?
I am telling you, it works.
Lately I have been dealing with anticipatory grief. Preparing for the loss of a loved one, whether it be a special person or beloved pet, is not easy, no matter how you look at it. But there are tools to help us go through the process with ease and comfort. I recently accompanied my mother as she put her 17 year old dachshund to rest. We anticipated this event for almost a year, and as we watched her decline, it made the idea of her transition a little easier. Now I am watching my Mom with Mild Cognitive Impairment, anticipating her next memory test results and planning for the long road ahead. I also have a senior cat approaching end of life, as I just learned about a suspicious mass on her abdomen. Emotionally it’s a lot for anyone to handle.
In matters of love, it can get really heavy, and the grief can be unbearable.
Back to intentional living though. If I live with the intention of staying in the present moment so I can enjoy all things right in front of me, I can get ahead of the grief. Instead of focusing on what is inevitably going to happen that will cause me pain, I practice meditation to keep me focused on the NOW. Through meditation and prayer I am led to better feeling thoughts, which lead to healthier action. My mind shifts from doom and gloom to new opportunities, rebirth, renewed energy - because we all know that when one door closes, another opens.
Getting on my knees and thanking my Higher Power for all that I have NOW keeps me in gratitude. Making a gratitude list and reminding myself of what I am grateful for as I go through my day has incredible healing power. It has always worked for me in tough times.
Finally, being present for others, extending help where needed or a loving hug or word adds comfort to a grieving heart because we can see, right before our eyes, the power we hold to help heal others.
I hope this helped you, as it helped me. Just writing my thoughts down is healing in itself. So does opening my experiences to others so that they are comfortable sharing back with me.
We are in this together. No one has to heal on their own. As a holistic health coach, I help others to uncover the root of the pain that lies within, and together we continue our transformational journeys as we steadily climb to higher vibrating beings.
