Moving through Grief

Are you struggling with grief? Are you finding it hard to heal and searching for some kind of relief?

One thing I’ve learned so far is that grief is the most patient emotion we have. It will sit and wait until we are ready to feel it and move through the process. There is no way around it, and everyone will inevitably experience it. How quickly you heal all depends on your ability to prepare for it, accept it and move forward.

Honoring our grief is crucial to healing. Ignoring, pretending, and repressing can actually make us physically sick and cause disease in our bodies. Then there is the debilitating affect on our psyche. Grief can cause us to be careless, cognitively deficient, and bad decision makers. It affects our ability to move our bodies, nourish ourselves and get proper rest. Grief can wreak havoc on our lives if we don’t respect and honor it by allowing ourselves to feel.

 I chose to honor my precious Linkin by bringing her ashes home with me. They say that our beloved pet spirits want us to choose to honor them however we feel we need to. And although the ashes in the box are not “her” in the form she is currently in, it’s a way to honor her ongoing presence in my life, and it brings me much relief.
